The Intercollegiate Workshop on the Contemporary Practice of Diplomacy

Date: Saturday, March 7, 2020
Venue: Mediterranean Palace Hotel, Thessaloniki

The Consul General of France, Philippe Ray, the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Sibylla Bendig, and the US Consul General, Gregory W. Pfleger, Jr. will discuss their experiences in diplomacy and consular affairs and the skills most needed in their respective foreign services in a roundtable discussion, where students can also raise questions about current events.

This session will be followed by a workshop where students will be invited to work to resolve a case study crisis using insights gained from the roundtable.

The event is free of charge.

10:30 - 11:00 Registration and coffee

11:00 - 13:00 Roundtable discussion of the four diplomats on diplomatic skills and consular experiences followed by a Q&A

13:00 - 14:00 Lunch break

14:00 - 15:30 Working groups / Parallel sessions on a case study crisis

15:30 - 16:30 Discussion and concluding remarks
