The Intercollegiate Workshop on the Contemporary Practice of Diplomacy
Date: Saturday, March 7, 2020
Venue: Mediterranean Palace Hotel, Thessaloniki
The Consul General of France, Philippe Ray, the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Sibylla Bendig, and the US Consul General, Gregory W. Pfleger, Jr. will discuss their experiences in diplomacy and consular affairs and the skills most needed in their respective foreign services in a roundtable discussion, where students can also raise questions about current events. They will be accompanied by Konstantinos Bitsios, the Vice Chairman of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises who also served as a diplomat in a number of appointments inside and outside of Greece.
This session will be followed by a workshop where students will be invited to work to resolve a case study crisis using insights gained from the roundtable.
The event is free of charge.

11:00 - 13:00 Roundtable discussion of the four diplomats on diplomatic skills and consular experiences followed by a Q&A
13:00 - 14:00 Lunch break
14:00 - 15:30 Working groups / Parallel sessions on a case study crisis
