Chief Editor for World International Affairs Visits ACT

Mr. Filios Stangos, chief editor for world international affairs for public television, was the guest speaker in the MBA Leadership Communication Skills class on November 10, 2006.

Mr. Stangos, who was among the journalists who first reported on the Tsunami crisis in Sri Lanka in December 2004, shared with the MBA candidates best strategies used to handle media during crises. Presenting a crisis from the perspective of a journalist helped the audience realize the complexity of such a situation and the need for business to effectively communicate with the media.

Among other things, he highlighted the need to treat media as allies, report facts accurately and not send conflicting messages, centralize decision-making, provide psychological support, and look for the “silver lining,” i.e. an opportunity to improve current state of affairs.

Message from the IT Department

We know many of you have been experiencing difficulties with the speed of the internet in recent weeks. As you know, we consider the integration of technology in the educational process at ACT to be critical. Therefore, we have continuously invested in upgrading our equipment and technology base to the latest standards available. Unfortunately, the best equipment and technology will do little when a bottleneck exists outside the school. We’re referring of course to the telecommunications infrastructure that’s currently available in Greece and particularly, Thessaloniki.
