Clubs & Organizations



ACT provides a wide range of clubs, societies and organizations to its students and alumni, some of them in cooperation with companies and agencies. Most of them are free of charge, some require a membership contribution to cover expenses (noted with an * below) like travelling, meals, software, etc., and a few provide certificates to their members (noted with an ∞ below).

Each organization and club meets regularly and is advised by a faculty member or a competent professional. A Clubs' Fair is hosted by all ACT student organizations at the beginning of each semester so students may become familiar with co-curricular offerings and sign up for clubs and activities which best suit their personal interests.

Cinema Club Advisor: Dimitris Tzouris

Witness 100 years of history and learn to distinguish the genres of the most complex and intriguing of the arts through exploring its manifold techniques.

Photography Club Advisor: Orestis Kourakis (orestis@kourakis.gr)

Open to those who want to learn more about photography. The focus is currently on digital photography and its techniques. Participation in this club ensures participation in the annual ACT Photography Competition and Exhibit.

Open to those who want to participate and influence the Thessaloniki music scene. You will learn to think out of the box, experiment with different types of music, play unconventionally and express and develop their own personal musical touch.

Field Trip Club* Advisor: Daphne Lamprou

The club takes advantage of the various cultural events of the city by visiting museums & galleries. Once a semester it organizes a 3-day trip in the Helladic area where students are toured to archaeological sites and places of interest. Also a daily trip takes place once a semester (Saturday) to an area of interest but in the range of about 150 km.

Horse Riding Club* Advisor: Apostolos Dedas

Open to those who want to learn more about horses, experience horse riding and even continue to more advanced (competitive) level.

Young Diplomats Society Advisor: Dr. David Wisner

The Young Diplomats Society sponsors guest lectures, visits local sites and attends events off campus, and holds the annual ACT Model United Nations Simulation. The club is open to all students interested in politics and international affairs.

Lifeguard Club* ∞ Advisor: Emmanouilides, Theologos

The Lifeguard School of Macedonia, trying to offer more educational programs targeting to rescue, is in close cooperation with EMP (Emergency Medical Planning). EMP is a worldwide recognized organization which aims to teach and provide safe and secure First Aid programs. This program is being taught to more than 90 countries.

A small studio, allows ACT students to broadcast a special program to their fellow students and announce special events.

Sailing Club* ∞ Advisor: Manolis Maou

Participation in this club will introduce you to the world of sailing in Northern Greece. The participants will acquire first hand experience with sailboats and learn the basic principle and skills involved in sailing an open sea sailing vessel.
