I learned so much from this experience, not only about Greece and its people, but about myself....the courses offered at ACT are "laid back". With that said you get back what you put into it. Thessaloniki is considered the culinary capital of Greece. So you can guess that the food was better than amazing... Ask Professor Dimitriadis about "the best souvlaki in all of Greece", its worth the trip.
-Bret, University of Wisconsin, EC 2015
It was definitely worthwhile! I learned so much about myself and my culture and also about different cultures while traveling throughout Europe. I've been back now almost two months and I constantly think about Thessaloniki and how much I miss it and I am already planning a trip to go back to Greece again!
-Andrew, University of Tampa 2015
The most incredible and enriching experience of my life... Our apartment building was right in the middle of the city. We walked out our front door and straight into the Greek culture.
-Judi, University of Wisconsin, EC 2014
ACT is a fantastic collegiate environment and the professors are well qualified. ACT staff is fantastic and makes sure that you have everything you need, are comfortable and happy, and are getting by and adjusting as easily as possible.
-Boston College student 2014
I love Thessaloniki because it isn't like living in a huge tourist city where everyone speaks English. You will feel truly immersed into the culture. This is easily one of my favorite parts of the program!

I became a new person after this experience in Greece. Every ACT staff I met was super friendly and quick to help. The campus was beautiful, set atop much of the city.
-Chloe "Bring Me Back" Winner 2013
The academic side of the study abroad experience was perfect at ACT.
I loved the food here... The open air market provided a lot of great food and the restaurants were great, cheap gyros or expensive meals. Absolutely loved.
-Logan, University of Wisconsin, EC 2013
My experience in Thessaloniki was wonderful. The food, the people, the atmosphere were all amazing and special in their own way. I felt so fortunate to not only a part of a study abroad program in Greece, but to also be spending time in an authentic Greek metropolitan. Thessaloniki was beautiful and vibrant and my experience there was more than I could have imagined.

...It was a brilliant three months, a wonderful Fall Semester, and certainly the time of my life. Thank you for all the memories and don’t be surprised if you find me walking down the street one day in the future. Read more...

I feel like I can blend into any culture now, and I can be who I am no matter what country I'm in, and feel comfortable. It is a selfish idea to take 3 months to myself in a foreign country, but the experience has been invaluable so far. I feel like I've grown, and that I see things more clearly, literally a world away from where I grew up.

I don't think I could have ever predicted that my time in Greece would be as incredible as it has been. I came into this program knowing that I'd make some friends, I'd have a good time, do some traveling, and enjoy myself - but I didn't know that I would make some of the best friends I could ever imagine, that I'd travel to nearly 10 different countries in one semester, and that I would fall in love with Greece in only 14 weeks.

Attending The American College of Thessaloníki was an experience of its own. The faculty were extremely nice and understanding at all times! I never felt that I could not find someone to help me when I needed. Both staff and students were friendly and accommodating. I learned much about Greek civilization, historical monuments, and works of art. After this 3 month excursion I walk away more independent, self-confident, eager to take on challenges, whether academic, personal, or professional, and with a global network of new life long friends!

I graduated in May and since then I've been freelancing doing proofreading work for Pearson Education and also doing social media work for About.com. But in February I'll be going to South Korea to teach English for a year! I'm so excited. I don't think I would have wanted to do this if it wasn't for teaching English at ARSIS while in Greece. That was one of the best things I did that semester, so thanks to you (and the rest of ACT) for encouraging all of us to volunteer. Truly a life changing experience.
-Thalia Halpert Rodis - 2010
Thessaloniki is the best city in the world for a college student.
-Allison Barlows, Univesrity of Missouri-Columbia
Thessaloniki is a great city to explore: the museums, the ruins, the restaurants, and the night life! The city will always hold a special place in my heart!
-Lula Kontoula Livanis, University of California
After spending an entire year in Thessaloniki, I believe one thing becomes abundantly clear: the atmosphere that the city, school, and staff provide make this one of the best study abroad experiences. The city is absolutely beautiful with its ancient wall intertwining through the modern city. It is also a student city; everything a student could ever ask for is right at your fingertips. The school, where one can interact with students from all over the world who all have the same goals in mind, sets an environment to exchange ideas – yet have fun and be oneself.
-Nicholas Piston, New Jersey
I highly recommend the ACT study abroad program to anyone who is interested in learning about Greek culture. You will have an experience that you will remember for a lifetime!! -Elena Tsianakas, Univesrity of Massachusetts – Amherst
I have made friendships I know will last a lifetime! And, I fell so in love with Thessaloniki and the program that I decided to transfer. I highly recommend this study abroad program!
-Alexandra Platis, Gonzaga University
I have come to realize that apart from the incredible time I had during my semester in Greece, the experience is contributing to my life and happiness as much if not more than ever before.
-Meghan Morris, Cornell University
Life in Greece is nothing like living in Boston! It is great to have the opportunity to learn more about Greek culture. Thessaloniki is most definitely the place to be when studying abroad in Greece, and it will always have a place in my heart once I leave.
-Emerlad Gravel, Northeastern University
Thessaloniki is such a beautiful city! There is always something to do, dine, dance, or just go for a walk.
