STUDY ABROAD MERIT AID SCHOLARSHIP

The American College of Thessaloniki awards a $1,000 merit scholarship applicable towards the semester's tuition to study abroad students who have reached sophomore status at their home institution and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.6/4.0.  Accepted students will be given the opportunity to apply for the scholarship by sending their most recent transcript to the admissions office. Merit aid scholarships are available during the fall and spring semesters.

HELLENIC AMERICAN SCHOLARSHIP

Hellenic-American scholarships are available during the fall and spring semesters.

The American College of Thessaloniki (ACT) awards scholarships that cover half tuition to eligible Hellenic American applicants. The award does not include housing, orientation, field trips and study abroad fees.

Eligibility guidelines/application procedures are as follows:

  • Acceptance to the ACT study abroad program
  • Proof of enrollment as a full time student at an accredited institution in the United States or Canada.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Completion of Hellenic Scholarship Application

ADDITIONAL ESTIMATED LIVING COSTS

  • Food: 350€ - 500€
  • Local Transportation: 50€ - 160€
  • Entertainment: 100€ - 200€
  • Books and Supplies: 150€ - 200€

PARTIALLY REFUNDABLE HOUSING FEE: $300 

ACT follows a first come first serve housing policy and by sending in your housing application and deposit fee you are reserving your room. This deposit will be returned at the end of the semester; a one-time cleaning fee of €50 will be subtracted, along with any costs for housing damages you might be responsible for during your stay.


ADDITIONAL COURSE FEES

  • Summer "Signature Course" Field Trip Fee: $200

Students enrolled in Humanities 211: The Life and Teachings of the Apostle Paul and Humanities 230: The World of Alexander, which include extensive field trips as part of the course content, will be charged the additional fee. 

  • Additional Credit Fee: $445

Tuition: $445 per credit hour - paid directly to ACT, for any combination that is not exactly equal to 3 or 6 credits

  • Sea Sailing 100 (1-credit elective): €200

The Open Sea Sailing 100 (1-credit elective) carries an additional €200 Boat Fee. The Open Sea Sailing 101 (3-credit International Certificate) course carries no additional Boat Fee.

ADDITIONAL COURSE CREDIT: $311 / credit hour

Tuition covers up to 12 credits. Additional credits are charged at the rate of $311 per additional credit.

PARTIALLY REFUNDABLE HOUSING DEPOSIT: $300

ACT follows a first come first serve housing policy. By sending in your housing application and deposit fee, you reserve your room.  At the end of the term, a cleaning fee of €100 will be subtracted from the deposit to cover the weekly cleaning service as well as a final cleaning of the room after departure. Any damages a student might be responsible for during their stay will also be subtracted from the deposit.

ADDITIONAL ESTIMATED LIVING COSTS:

  • Food250€  - 300€ / month
  • Local Transportation: 30€ - 80€ / month
  • Entertainment: 100€ - 150€ / month
  • Books and Supplies: 150€ - 200

STUDENT VISA COSTS: $113 

Visa must be obtained prior to departure from the US.  The application and fee are submitted directly to the Greek Embassy/Consulate nearest to you. The fee may vary by Embassy. Contact the Greek Embassy nearest to you.

RESIDENCE PERMIT COSTS:  

  • 150€ Residence permit fee for one year
  • 110€ Greek insurance valid for 1 year (duration of residence permit)
  • 400€ Bank deposit that can be liquidated (student keeps the money) after application procedure
