STUDY ABROAD MERIT AID SCHOLARSHIP

The American College of Thessaloniki awards a $1,000 merit scholarship applicable towards the semester's tuition to study abroad students who have reached sophomore status at their home institution and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.6/4.0.  Accepted students will be given the opportunity to apply for the scholarship by sending their most recent transcript to the admissions office. Merit aid scholarships are available during the fall and spring semesters.

HELLENIC AMERICAN SCHOLARSHIP

Hellenic-American scholarships are available during the fall and spring semesters.

The American College of Thessaloniki (ACT) awards two full tuition scholarships to eligible Hellenic American applicants. The award does not include housing, orientation, field trips and study abroad fees.

 

Hellenic American Scholarship Deadline for Fall 2013

for study abroad students:

April 15, 2013.

 
Eligibility guidelines/application procedures are as follows:

  • Acceptance to the ACT study abroad program
  • Proof of enrollment as a full time student at an accredited institution in the United States or Canada.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Completion of Hellenic Scholarship Application

STUDY ABROAD COSTS:

*For up to 12 credit hours there's a FLAT charge of $5,100---a student can take additional courses at the cost of $425 per credit hour.

A housing deposit of $300 is needed to reserve your room. A cleaning fee of 35 euro will be subtracted at the end of the semester, including costs for any housing damages a student might be responsible for during their stay.


ADDITIONAL LIVING COSTS
  • FOOD/MONTH: €200 to €280
  • LOCAL TRANSPORTATION/MONTH: €30 - €80
  • ENTERTAINMENT/ MONTH: €50 – €200
  • BOOKS AND SUPPLIES/ONE TIME COST: €140 - €160

Student Visa Cost: $100

Residence Permit Costs:
€130 for Greek Insurance (International insurance is not accepted)
€150 cost of permit for one year
€10 photographs
€12 hospital check fee
€500 initial bank deposit that can be liquidated (student keeps the money) after application procedure

 

**All fees are mandatory and a student can not opt out on planned trips and events included in the cost

   ADDITIONAL LIVING COSTS

  • LOCAL TRANSPORTATION: €30- €160 / MONTH

  • COURSE BOOKS: €150-€200

REFUNDABLE HOUSING FEE: $300 .  ACT follows a first come first serve housing policy and by sending in your housing application and deposit fee you are reserving your room. This deposit will be returned at the end of the semester; a one-time cleaning fee of €35 will be subtracted, along with any costs for housing damages you might be responsible for during your stay.

OPTIONAL AIR CONDITIONING FEE: € 30/double room, € 50/single room. All rooms have air conditioning units but if a student will be using the unit they must state it in advance, particularly if they are housed in a double room so they can be matched up with a student that also desires this service.


 

*All fees are mandatory and a student cannot opt out on planned trips and events included in the above costs. Housing fees include basic furnishings and utilities.

*Students registered for signature courses that include extensive field trips as part of the course content will be asked to pay an extra cost of up to $200.

A housing deposit of $300 is requested in order to reserve your room. At the end of the term any damages a student might be responsible for during their stay will be subtracted. A cleaning fee of 70 euro will also be subtracted and will go towards a weekly cleaning service that is provided to all students during their stay, as well as towards a final cleaning of their room once they have left.
