ACT awards a limited number of scholarships annually on the basis of demonstrated financial need.
Need-based financial aid scholarships can cover as much as 80% of tuition depending on: a) the student's financial situation and b) the family’s financial situation. In rare cases, financial aid might cover up to 100%.
The candidate's academic performance is also considered in the selection process and in ensuring that any aid awarded is continued. Need-based financial aid scholarships cover tuition only, whereas the student is responsible for covering college fees, living expenses and the cost of books. Students on aid are also expected to contribute through on-campus employment toward meeting the cost of studying at ACT.
How can I apply?
Candidates should submit the following documents to the Admissions Office:
- a letter explaining in detail the financial situation of the candidate's family and his/her educational objectives;
- complete tax statements of those financially responsible for the candidate (parents/guardians) for the last two years, including real estate tax statement;
- a personal CV;
- a completed ACT financial aid application form.
When should I apply?
Candidates who wish to be considered must complete an ACT financial aid application in addition to their application for admission. The application must be submitted, complete with all supporting material, by May 30. Provided there is availability of funds, applications received beyond the deadline may be considered. A financial aid scholarship is normally renewed on an annual basis, pending availability of funds, and providing that the recipient:
- maintains a minimum GPA of 2.67 (B-) each semester and
- continues to demonstrate financial need.
The Financial Aid Committee consists of administrative and faculty staff members. The committee makes decisions based on the credentials submitted by applicants and the availability of funds. Notification regarding financial aid scholarships is normally made within a month after the application deadline.
Who is eligible for a financial aid scholarship?
Any candidate for admission may apply for a financial aid scholarship. ACT does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, sex, national origin, age, or disability in the administration of its academic and admission policies or scholarship and financial assistance programs.
