The Bissell Library of the American College of Thessaloniki (ACT) is one of the largest English language libraries in Greece. The library, dedicated in 2002, features the ACT collection:
- over 24,000 books in print
- 48,409 electronic books (Ebrary database)
- hundreds of media titles including DVDs, CD-ROMS and videos
- selected print periodical subscriptions
The Bissell Library offers reference desk and information seeking service all hours the library is open. The entire building is wi-fi enabled and laptop network ports are available.
Your library card is your current student ID with an activated bar code. Bring your student ID to the library reference desk and a bar code will be attached. Students must bring a current student ID card to the library each time to:
- use the library computer resources
- borrow books or other library materials including reserve materials for use within the Bissell Library
- make printouts and photocopies in the library
Access the library collections through the library catalog (iPAC). The ACT Bissell Library and the Anatolia College Eleftheriades Library share Horizon iPAC, an integrated library management system and web-based catalogue. Access both library collections through the iPAC.
Remote access to Bissell Library research and information subscription databases is available to currently enrolled students and faculty. This includes access to over 20,000 periodicals online. In addition, the library collection includes selected print periodical subscriptions that support the curriculum.
Library users can search the library catalog, research databases or the Internet through public access terminals available on both floors of the library.
The Library Access Policy and Computer Use Policy are included in the ACT Student Handbook.
The Bissell Library is open to the public. Borrowing privileges and onsite access to electronic resources are available for a fee. Please contact us at 2310 398.390 or actlib@act.edu.
